Easy Fall Foliage Cards

Lately I've been busy trying all kinds of new stuff. I'm learning a lot about my Brother ScanNCut2 and my Silhouette Mint. I've also recently bought my first set of Copics Sketch markers and I've been using any spare time that I can find to practice coloring with them. I must admit that since acquiring the ScanNCut2, I have not used my Silhouette Cameo very much but when I saw the new LD's Fall Foliage cards, I went ahead and cut them out with it.

The cards in the collection are very easy to make. I cut them out at the same size that they were imported into my Silhouette Studio DE program, i.e. at 5"x10" (unfolded) and with no modifications. If you are new to LD and their Cut Its/SVG files, do note that you have to UNGROUP the files first and set the Cut Style to CUT before sending it to your Silhouette machine to cut. {Or click on THIS LINK to read my tutorial for LD-SVG beginners.}.

While cutting the Fall Foliage cards was quick and easy with my Silhouette Cameo, removing them from the cutting mat was another story- it was nerve-wracking! The cuts on some of the cards are pretty intricate and I was really nervous that I would tear the paper. It's a horrible feeling when you've destroyed a beautiful cut while trying to get it off the mat! Luckily my mat is already quite "seasoned" and I managed to peel the cards off of it without any incident. Phew!

So here's a PSA for those of you who have this set of Fall Foliage cards:

Make sure that you use a cutting mat that is sticky enough to hold the cardstock down for the machine to cut, but not so sticky that you cannot remove the finished cuts. In other words, do not use a brand new, too-sticky mat to cut these out if you do not want to risk tearing them.

That's all. End of PSA, and you're welcome. :)

To finish the cards, I used my manual paper trimmer to cut out vellum for the backing, and taped that to the back of the card fronts.

For those of you who do not have this set of cards yet, you can get them HERE.

Have fun cutting!

Now you again used Silhouette, could you tell me if the ScanNcut2 really makes less noise?
she arrived in France next week, it tempts me, but I'm afraid I do not use if it is too noisy.
Thank you for your opinion, there is still so precious to me. Nicky
