My friend, Gale of
Stamps and Stitches blog, bought the Silhouette a day after I did and she's been busy whipping up cards with her new cutter!
This is what she says about her cards:
"I wanted to try cutting from the Studio software, so I used Inkscape to
convert the SVG file to a dxf and then opened that in Studio. I had some
issues getting Inkscape to make a clean conversion but eventually
managed it using a Penny Duncan Creations video on youtube. I used the
Studio software to create the shaped card by doing an offset of the
flowers and then adding a rectangle to the bottom and welding. Then I
mirrored, aligned, and welded the shape to make the other side of the
card. I cut it from Studio which was very easy. I was able to just drag
the parts off and on my virtual cutting mat depending on which ones I
was cutting. I used PaperTreyInk cardstock for the white card base. The
rest is from Stampin' Up and Bazzill cardstock and Stampin' Up and
Lasting Impressions patterned paper. I used SU dimensionals to pop it
off the page. I added the strip of grey at the bottom to ground the
flowerpot. I cut that with a regular paper trimmer.

For this second card, Gale says,
"I wanted to try the print and cut feature. I did have to do a bit of
work on the file first because the girl's shirt is white, and the trace
wouldn't go around that white part (obviously). So I used 2 versions of
the girl. One with the white shirt and one where I recolored the shirt
black in photoshop. I sized the two to the same exact dimensions, then I
used the align menu to stack them exactly on top of each other. I did
the trace, and then I dragged the one with the black shirt off and
deleted it. Then I had a perfect outline plus the white shirted girl
that I wanted. I printed the design onto Neenah cardstock and cut it out
using Silhouette Studio. My first cut was not perfectly aligned-not
sure why though-but the second was fine. I used MTC to do the words
using the font "Mouseyer" (weird name for a font) because I don't
believe Studio gives the option to load a font without it being
installed. I cut the oval in MTC because I already had it open. I used
KI Memories patterned paper for the words and background, Stampin' Up
cardstock for the pink oval and the card base, and Stampin' Up
dimensionals to attach the girl.

Finally, for this 3rd card, Gale says,
"I used 3 Nancy Kubo graphics. I used photoshop to convert the owl and
part of the words to the different layers, then traced them in MTC. The
rest I just traced directly from the image file in MTC. I cut them from
MTC on the Silhouette using Stampin' Up and Bazzill Cardstock and
Stampin' Up patterned papers. No problems whatsoever. The SU cardstock
cut out in one pass but with shapes that have sharp corners, I use two
passes so those corners cut more cleanly. Bazzill cut easily in one pass
every time."

"The inspiration came from my 10 month old (now) granddaughter Lorelei Anne (Lola) and her bunny outfit from Halloween last year! She makes the Cutest Bunny. Can you tell I am a very proud Nanna!!!!!! LOL
Using my Silhouette SD Cutter right out of the box for the graphic components. The Print & Cut (PNC)feature with the Silhouette is fantastic and cost of machine is well worth this feature alone. It gives excellent results with its optical eye and 3 registration point recognition feature. I agree it is small, light and easy to operate. So I will be using it to take with me on Cardmaking outings.
Lettering Delights Bunny Kids Graphic Set (Blonde Egg Basket Pink Bunny, extra bow, and extra eggs in basket). I included a close-up of the extra bow that I Knife Cut using the Silhouette software to add extra dimension on the Bunny’s Bow. It is a really handy tool!
Lettering Delights Easter Buddies Graphic Set: (Patchwork Flower) I shadowed the flower in the Silhouette Design program to make it standout more as the colors were less intense.
I used Make-The-Cut (MTC) and my 13 inch Black Cat Cougar to cut the Card and flower paper layer of the card, along with the basket:
Lettering Delights Easter Buddies Graphic Set for the Basket. I removed the area within the handle and placed on card and flower layer to cute out this area so the Bunny Girl could show through from the inside of the card.
