Chicken Soup!


Funny how I make a ton of cards and yet I have very few "Get Well" cards on hand. When I saw the Chicken Soup graphic set, I knew exactly what to make with it. ;-)


Nothing says "Get Well Soon!" better than some chicken soup. If I can't send the real thing, the least I can do is to send it as a card.


The above picture shows a screenshot of my Silhouette Studio DE (v2.8.16d <==  yes! I'm still using v2!). The shaped card is mostly print-and-cut. In order to add dimension and make it look less flat, I print-and-cut the chicken and the vegetables separately from the background. I adhered all the layers down using foam tape.

    I was going to ask the same question Jin - what cardstock and what printer? Your colors are always so vibrant! Love this cute card!!

    Cute card! My daughter thought it was strange the chicken was still alive in the pot! It's a bummer LD has discontinued the paper packs that go along with the retired graphics. Wonder if they'll put those up again at some point.

      Tell your daughter that the chicken thinks it's taking a bath. lol. LD brings back their retired products back for a limited time every now and then. Hopefully they will bring the paper back like they are doing now for their retired graphics.

    I KNEW this would happen! I didn't get this one because it didn't look the least bit interesting to me (and wasn't on your 'must have' list), and now I HAVE TO HAVE IT to make this darling card! Curses! On the plus side, when I pulled up the chicken soup pack, the paper also showed up and I was able to put it in my cart. Oh, great, something ELSE I have to buy!

      You are so clever, sandyj! I didn't realize that you can still add the paper to the cart after pulling up the graphics set. Thank you for the tip, you Smarty Pants! ;-)
      p.s. forgot to mention that the Chicken Soup set is on my Must-haves list between Party Pals and Gingerbread Joy. There are so many sets listed, it is easy to miss though. :-P

    Love your chicken soup card...how do I send the graphics to Silhouette Studio for printing and cutting ?
    Do I have to convert to an SVG format ? This will be my very first time using a cutting machine. Yesterday, I upgraded to the designer version, so I can import SVG and make my own design. Thanking you in advance. Kristine

    Jin love your work...Question about what size is the card...and did you just mirrored the front to make the card base and welded it together...by the way our friends over at Lettering Delights should hire you full time...your work again is amazing and all inspiring...thanks again

      The card measures approximately 5.3" (height)x 5.1" (width) when folded. After I prepare the card front, I make a copy, flipped it horizontally and weld the two together to make the card base. :)

    Jin I can't seem to do an offset on the chicken/pot, did you do something different or add a step?

      Did you make a trace of it first? After you make the trace, you'll be able to make an offset of the traced line. If you still have trouble making the offset after tracing the image, THIS tutorial may help.
