I'm Hog Wild about you! ♥
I took a break from making pop-ups today and made a card by combining print-and-cut with traditional paper-piecing (i.e. layering). I like to call it a Hybrid card. ☺
I used several sets from the Hogs and Kisses collection for the project. The card front and sentiment were print-and-cut while the pig was cut out from different colored cardstock and pieced together with glue and foam tape.
To make the shaped card base, I welded together an offset of the heart with that of the sentiment and the pig.
To add interest to the balloon, I used Stickles to glitter it up.
I also added a couple of mini glittered hearts. Those came from a sheet of stickers that I got from Target. The banner was made from washi tape that I got from Michaels and from an online site (that I can't recall).
The finished card measures approximately 6.8" by 6.8".

Hi Jin
ReplyDeleteYour card is adorable. Thanks for sharing. Do you have a video showing how to print and cut LD graphics in silhouette designer software as you have done with this card. I looked through your tutorials but did not see one. Thanks K
Hi K, this tutorial may help: http://underacherrytree.blogspot.com/2011/03/silhouette-sd-review-part-2-print-and.html
DeleteThanks Jin. This tutorial is great but how did you cut the inside smaller pieces for layering. Did I miss it.
DeleteSo cute!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteSo cute. What cardstock size did you use for the base? The card is almost seven inches, so a standard letter size cardstock would not do...
ReplyDeleteThe base is around 13" long when the card is opened. I used a sheet of 12"x12" cardstock and positioned the cut on the diagonal so it fits. :)
DeleteOh very cute indeed! Thank you for the tuts and keeping me up to date with LD and the specials! It makes it easy to pick up a good deal and stay informed with what is happening at LD. I hope you get a little return for your trouble when I use 'your' link to go to the store ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love this stinkin cute pig (pun intended hee hee) so cute

This is sow aboarable and hogsome!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are fantastic. Are you using the Silhouette software to do the text and the printed dotted lines or do you import those from another program? Thanks so much for your fabulous posts!
ReplyDeleteHi Sara, the text is from the Hogs and Kisses graphics set while the dotted line was made with Silhouette Studio by changing the Line Style. You can see an example of how I did that in the video HERE around the 7:00 mark.
DeletePerfect! So helpful. Thank you.
