Washi Tape Fun

So we were at Target on Saturday and I had to do a double take when I walked by the office supplies aisle and saw...

"Printed Paper Tape"? Really? Like faux washi tape? I had to find out if they were as good as my MT tape so I bought one each of the 4 available color sets.

In my opinion, there is only one way to compare the two: make a card! I started to make a quick card with "faux washi tape" and this is what I came up with:

The trees are from LD's Quirky Trees set while the sentiment came from a sheet of Penny Black stamps.

Next I made this card using a present cut from the Pucker Up Birthday Cut It set.

I stamped the greeting using a $1 Studio G Alphabet stamp set that I had picked up from Michael's some time back.

It wouldn't be a fair comparison of the two brands of types if I didn't use the MT tape to make something too. So I did this:

The egg shape came from LD's Easter Cut It set and I used both the cut out and the negative-layer to make the card.

Besides the obvious price and width differences (MT tape is 15mm wide while the Target brand is 19mm), I thought that both tapes tear and feel the same. By the way, to make all the three cards shown above, I used the "negative-layer technique" that I had talked about in this post.

If you have been wanting to play with washi tape but were turned-off by the price, go get some of these Target "Printed Paper Tape". At $4 for a pack of 4-rolls, it's a steal compared to the $4/roll of the real thing.

On a separate note, have you tried out my mini-notecard tutorial? Some of you did and even shared pictures with me (Thank you!). I will be showing you their note cards later today.
