Owl On My Head ("Print-and-Cut" Vinyl without Cricut Imagine)

Canon PIXMA MP250 Inkjet Printer $32 at Walmart.

Cricut Imagine Printable Vinyl $8.99 at OhMyCrafts.com

Cricut EXPRESSION cutting Cricut IMAGINE vinyl = A special kind of pleasure

An owl hovering next to my bedroom window= Fun

White on top and right of owl caused by pulling the vinyl off the backing too quickly= Impatient

No white border on cut out vinyl because everything is cut within the printed portion
= Frickin' Awesome!

Everyone can now pretend that there's an owl on their head (instead of just this one kid)= Less in-house drama.

Cutting Cricut Imagine Vinyl without the Cricut Imagine
= $500 NOT SPENT.

  1. What?!?!?! That's awesome. I'm going to have to try that. One question, how did you get it line up so that it cut correctly?

  2. Christel, Jin has an EXCELLENT tutorial on how to do this. She ROCKS.

Jin, Awsome Owl. Now if we could just find printable vinyl that ISN'T from Provo Craft then we're in business.

  9. Thanks everyone, I am thrilled at how it turned out. Ever since I posted that picture of my child with that super-imposed owl, the other two kids have been whining that they too want an owl on their heads. Now I've done away with that drama. Whoo Hoo! :-D

To cut the owl out, I first cut four 0.5"x0.5" squares with MTC to use as registration marks to position my printed vinyl. When the four squares have cut out, WITHOUT UNLOADING THE MAT I position the printed vinyl using that four squares as a guide. I hit CUT and the owl is born. ;-)
