Jin's Gingerbread House Shaped Card

One of our favorite things to do during the holiday season is to decorate a gingerbread house with the kids. We always buy the kit from Costco. I would set everything out on the table and Hubby would help the girls with the gingerbread house while I take pictures.

While browsing the LD site the other day, I came across the cutting file of a gingerbread house. The Christmas Calories Cut It set was released last year when I was on vacation and I never got around to playing with it when I got back. Now that the holiday season is upon us again, it's time that I gave the set a try.

Before attempting the cutting file for the gingerbread house, I decided to cut and assemble the gingerbread boy first. It was so easy to do that I ended up making a batch of those "cookies" quickly.

As soon as I finished assembling the gingerbread cookies, I started to import the gingerbread house SVG into Silhouette Studio DE (v2.8.16d). This is the shaped card that I came up with:

Using a combination of print-and-cut, and traditional paper-layering, I made this gingerbread house shaped card:

The layers that made up the house were cut out of different colored cardstock and adhered together with glue. The card base as well as the patterned background were print-and-cut.

When the kids were little, they would decorate one gingerbread house together. Now that they are older, I may have to get them their own Gingerbread House kit. Excuse me while I take a moment to check my budget...

1 Gingerbread House Kit = $9.99
3 Gingerbread House Kit = 3 x $9.99 = $29.97

Hmm.... on second thoughts, I wonder if they'd settle for making shaped cards instead.
