Hey, Foxy Lady!

The windstorm started the day after Halloween. At first it tried to coax the leaves to let go but then it got angry and started to rip the yellows and reds off from the branches that they were clinging onto. The Wind Advisory was in effect for 12 hours and by the time the wind was done, the trees were bare.

We turned the clock back an hour last weekend and just like that, the night is now here earlier. It starts to get dark at four. Meanwhile, the weather has also turned colder.

We are in the thick of Fall.

I love Autumn but I feel like I haven't had much of it this year. Fall is Halloween and Thanksgiving (and Black Friday) but Halloween came and went fast and suddenly the stores are clearing their shelves to make room for Christmas. Folks online are peddling their Holiday ware. I see Christmas cards on many blogs and yet, like the last leaf on an almost-naked tree, I am holding on to Autumn.

Owls and squirrels adorn many a Fall decoration but what about the fox? Was it always a "Fall Animal"? We know that it was because of that song that we are seeing foxes everywhere still I can't help but wonder...

The Chinese says that it is the Year of the Snake but judging from the fox's popularity, 2013 might as well be the Year of the Fox. If only it was one of the 12 animals on the Chinese zodiac.

Frankly, all of this fox business is besides the point. The truth is, as long as LD keeps making another Fall set, I'll be happy to play with it. Before we know it, Fall will be over and the holidays will be upon us.

Perhaps only then will I be ready to let go of Autumn.

  3. I am really liking your cards with the printed background. Seems like the pieced portion seems more prominent this way... Foxy Lady is adorable, who wouldn't love to find her in their mail?

  7. I too am in the Great Northwest and I love the beauty of Autumn and Fall here. We can drive down the streets and still see flaming red Maple trees but a resounding Yes! The wind storm stripped 90% of the remaining leaves off. It's a good thing John and I didn't spend our Friday afternoon raking those leaves. lol Keep enjoying our beautiful area and let it inspire you. xoxox Beth
