Egg Bunny (Easter card)

Spring is upon us and even though my daffodils bloomed in time to welcome the season, the weather didn't co-operate. It was very windy and rainy on the first day of Spring but that didn't stop me from running outside to take a couple of pictures.

One of my favorite cuts in the Peep Squeakers Cut Its is the bunny. It is shaped after an egg! How not to love? It's been a busy week but when I finally got a chance to make a card today, I just had to cut out this bunny.

Using Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, I first "sketched out" the card by placing the various elements on the virtual mat. I couldn't decide how I should position the greeting but I ended up putting it on a banner. By using the "Draw Freehand" tool, I managed to "stitch together" the banner. I also changed the Line Style, Line Size, and Line Color.

Initially I wanted to cut out a couple of butterflies to fill in the blank space around the banner but paper cutouts looked too "heavy". Then one of Twin B's sketches gave me an idea.

Some time ago I had bought several boxes of shaped paperclips, including some that were shaped like butterflies. I had given one to my little girl and instead of using it to fasten papers together, she came up with this:

I had that sketch stuck on to my whiteboard and when I happened to see it this afternoon, I knew I had to use these clips to complete my card.

It's late night now but the winds are still not letting up. The weather here isn't very Spring-like but I hope that you are enjoying nicer weather where ever you are. :)

  3. So many elements come together to make this cute card. An idea + lots of choices = Great card! You have no idea how much I struggle making the choices. The butterfly clips works perfectly. Great job!
