The Silhouette Curio can cut, emboss, sketch, stipple, and etch while the Silhouette Mint is a stamp maker.
Along with the Curio, and the Mint, Silhouette America has also announced their new Silhouette Cloud that will sync your Silhouette Design Store Library so that it is accessible on other devices, and the Silhouette Studio Mobile app for both iOS and Android.
In addition, they are introducing the new Silhouette Studio Designer Edition Plus- an upgrade in the Silhouette Studio® suite, and designed with new features specifically for sewing and fabric users.
There are a lot of other new products announced today including a Deep-Cut blade (yippee!), Printable Glow in the Dark Sticker Paper, Glow in the Dark vinyl, Scratch-off Sticker Sheets, Faux Leather Paper, and more!

Okay, I am just recovering from the excitement of buying an Instax Share printer (you made me do it, lol!), and now THIS?!?! I am going to have to take a hammer to my piggy bank! brb!
ReplyDeleteHave you played with your Instax printer, Martha? I love mine! I think I need this new Mint stamper maker too. :D
DeleteI think the Curio is interesting. I will wait till there are personal reviews, see what those who use it say. I hope you get one Jin, I trust your reviews. The mint....meh. I use photoshop for most of my stamping now, I have very few physical (rubber or clear) stamps.
ReplyDeleteRight? I sold all my stamps, and my copics... Have no desire to start all over... Sounds good, but not for me ;)
Delete$10 a week saves enough to buy the Curio for the holidays - and maybe we'll get lucky with an awesome Black Friday price too!
ReplyDeleteSilhouette has offered specials on their machines during the past Black Fridays so I wouldn't be surprised if they do it with the Curio this year too. I'm also hoping that they'll run a promo for the Mint. I think I need that stamp maker to come live in my craft room. :P
DeleteOh my. The Curio looks amazing! If it can truly emboss any design --- that's like a big PLUS already !
ReplyDeleteI agree, Angeline. I'm excited that they are finally coming out with a deep cut blade too. We've waited a long time for that!
DeleteWill it cut felt?
ReplyDeleteGood question! They mentioned a whole bunch of new uses but I don't see felt. It would be great if it does, wouldn't it?
DeleteThe Mint machine looks like the Casio Pomrie, the stamp making machine from Japan you told us about last January. By the way, the Pomrie is available on Amazon.com for $87.78 with free shipping.

DeleteI looked at the Pomrie on Amazon thanks to your tip.. but it does not seem they have a lot of ink colors, and of course, it might not 'mesh' with the Silhouette designs from the store.. have you used the Pomrie, and what do you think of it in terms of clarity of designs, cost of supplies, etc... ? Any idea?
DeleteWhoops, we are all in trouble now.. I have hardly used my Cameo to it's full potential... I don't use my
ReplyDeletebought stamps too much, but I definitely would like the Mint to make custom stamps, amazing we will be able to use them to reproduce our purchased designs from the store, and the new inks like the glow in the dark seem awesome... I was getting bored, LOL, came at the right time.. now for new fun! New software is supposed to work with 'sewing', I'd really be interested in that which is an upgrade to Designer PLUS... I'm on the old software still as I was afraid to switch, wonder how the transition will work here? And a business addition as well...Excited to see all the goodies in the Fall! Will you be testing and reviewing the new Software, Jin?
So many new products are coming, Trina! I'm so excited I don't know which one to play first! ;-D
DeleteIs the mobile app already availbale in iOS?
ReplyDeleteNo. I heard that it'll be coming in August.
DeleteWhen will the Mint be avaliable in Australia?
ReplyDeleteThe Silhouette America site says that it'll be available in the U.S. this Fall. Hopefully it'll be available in Australia soon too.
DeleteYou are the top enabler in the world! What to get, what to get?
ReplyDeleteI want that Mint stamp maker! I love the idea of making custom stamps. :-)
DeleteI would like to see Silhouette fix their existing issues (mainly customer service!) before rolling out new products to attract new customers to ignore.
ReplyDeleteI like that they are bringing out new toys for us to play but I agree with you that they should also work on the existing issues as well. Their customer service used to be stellar and I hope that Silhouette can fix their Help desk and make it as good as it used to be.
DeleteAt least now we know why they were having so many sales this last year ;-)
ReplyDeleteThat's so true!
DeleteHave you heard anything about a wider machine coming out?
ReplyDeleteNot yet but I'll post on the blog if I do. ;-)
DeleteTwo words: Birthday Present!!! The Curio looks very promising, Jin! I wonder what else you could do with your designs on Silhouette Mobile. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteI haven't played with it yet but I'm really excited to find out more. Silhouette says that it's coming in August. Oh, why does that feel like it's so far away?!
DeleteSay whaaaat? I'm still learning to use my 2 year old silhouette! I haven't had the courage to use sketch pens and such yet! oh be still my heart ...
ReplyDeleteI have some of their sketch pens but I've never used any with my Cameo. I'd like to play with the other new products that they are introducing though. I love the idea of a Printable Glow-in-the-Dark sticker paper. It sounds like fun! :)
DeleteI was excited - but just saw the specs -8.5x6 mat - NO 12 inch? not even a 12x6 inch? That disappoint's me.
ReplyDeleteI know right?! That's a HUGE bummer! :-(
DeleteThe PDF Silhouette America sent showed an optional kit that allows you to cut to 12" long ( but still the narrow width). I don't have it with me, but I think it will run about $45. There are also little pieces to add to the platform bed to raise/lower the cutting surface, depending on the thickness of the media you are cutting. I'm looking forward to hearing more...
DeleteAfter reading about the smaller mat and not seeing anything about it being wireless, I might just buy a Cricut Air. I love my Cameo, but would really love to be able to run it from the living room and be able to do all the new things it can do... especially emboss.
