A Christmas Card

It's 6.5 weeks to Christmas. Have you started on your holiday cards yet? I don't usually start making them so early so early but I really wanted to play with LD's DB Christmas Trees Doddlebat font. So I made a quick card with it. Ahhh...."Doodlebat"! I just love that word because it means that I don't have to convert the image in Photoshop prior to tracing in MTC. I just had to add the font to MTC and work with the image as if it came from a graphic set. Easy peasy!

Using MTC, these are the layers that I came up with for one of the trees in the font.  The black shadow layer was made using the Shadow Layer tool in MTC.

I cut the sentiment (from the LD Seasons' Greetings set) out of adhesive-backed paper. This is because the letters are so fine and I thought it would be so much easier to adhere to the card if the back of the sentiment cutout was already sticky.

I put all the cutouts together on a white card base and this is what I got:

The tree was adhered to the card with foam tape for added dimension. I also added rhinestones to the project for some bling-bling. The card base was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and a Stampin' Up! ribbon was used  to finish off the card.

  1. Cute card Jin. Did you print the pattern on the trees or was it just patterned paper?

  3. Thank you, GaTechGal and Maria. :-)

I used patterened paper for the trees. I'm taking a break from print-and-cut...my paper stacks missed me. :D

Maria, no need to feel stressed. You still have plenty of time. I'll stress you when it's the first week of Dec and you're still not started. ;)

  4. What CB folder is that? I don't think I have it. I love all the stuff you do, Jin. I wish I could have just a tiny bit of your talent!

  6. Thanks, jayma. That's such a sweet comment. I really appreciate it. :)

I bought the folder last year from HSN. It came in a pack of six (http://www.hsn.com/cuttlebug-embossing-folder-set-winter-wonderland_p-6152305_xp.aspx) I don't know if it is available on its own.

  7. Very pretty card!!! :) Great idea to use adhesive-backed paper (especially if you're making a ton of cards-so much easier)! And that Cuttlebug embossing folder is the best!

    Thanks for sharing,

    Jennifer
