Jin's Vacation Pics (1): MT Expo - Singapore {picture heavy!}

It's been a week since we've arrived in Singapore and the kids are having a blast! Besides pigging out on local food, we've been shopping like we've never shopped before. So many cute things here! We've also seen Jia Jia and Kai Kai- the 2 pandas at the Singapore River Safari. They are so adorable!! I'll share pictures of them in another post.

A few days into our vacation, I received a message from one of my blog readers. Ivy Toh is from Singapore and upon learning of our visit, mentioned that there is a MT Exhibition going on here. My jaw dropped. Seriously? A washi tape exhibition? You. Have. Got. To. Be. Kidding!

We went to the MT Expo the very next day and found ourselves in a Washi Tape Heaven. MT Masking Tape from wall to floor! We were greeted by two giant washi balls and a wall of smaller washi balls. Rolls and rolls of tape lined the walls and there were so many rolls of washi tape and washi wrap for sale.

Amongst the things I saw were some limited edition MT masking tapes that were available only at this event. I heart the Peranakan Tiles tape! I was also intrigued by the MT for Kids line. So cute! Also spotted were rolls of Washi Wrap, Washi Tape idea books, and the MT Maki Maki. The latter is actually a simple device that allows for tape to be repackaged into smaller rolls. It makes it a lot easier to transport and share washi tape (think: washi swaps!). Scroll down to the end of the post or click here for a video on what this contraption is all about.

The kids were not forgotten by the folks who organized this expo. Three playhouses (decorated in tape!) kept them entertained for a bit but their absolute favorite were the Make-and-Try Station and the Gacha Gacha machines. There were free rolls of tape to decorate plain boxes at the station and when the kids were done with the boxes, they decorated our mobile phones. LOL!

The MT Expo ends on Sunday, Aug 11. If you are in Singapore, it is worth a visit. Many of the limited edition tapes are sold out at this point (as are the gacha balls) but if you happen to be in the ION Orchard area, it is still worth a look-see.

Thanks again, Ivy, for telling us about this event. We had a fantastic time and it has become a highlight of our trip! :)

  4. Wow! So exciting for you! Come on, Jin, confess. How many rolls did you end up with? You will have to take a picture of your loot so we all can enjoy vicariously.
