LOL Thanks, Doug, for the wheelbarrow. I have great ideas for decorating it for a wall hanging. Warm Regards, Lorna
ReplyDeleteLove the sketches....can't wait...thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteAnimals. Especially barnyard themed to go along with the current sketches, but also animals that are pets (dogs, cats, birds, lizards, etc)

ReplyDeleteOld country church with a steeple and stained glass windows
ReplyDeleteMother's day or fathers day theme, my dad a retired dairy farmer. My mom likes cats.Happy Father's Day written in with the sketch, humorous cat would be funny, so I can use the sketch in a greeting card.inside the card with just a little detail. Would be fun if I hand paint the design after I do the sketch with my Cameo.
ReplyDeleteFamous land marks. Eiffel tower, Big Ben, Washington monument, Arches National Park, Big Cedars in California etc.....
ReplyDeleteWould love a beach or lighthouse scene that I could use for masculine cards.
ReplyDeleteHi Jin,
ReplyDeleteI think sketches of architecture (such as skyscrapers/city scenes; Tuscan villas; beach houses; etc.) would be AMAZING!!! :) It might be fun to have sketches of items that identify states, too (city landmarks, etc.).
Thanks so much,
Jennifer

English country thatched roof cottages would be great as I come from England.
ReplyDeleteRustic new England scenes. Looking past a wildflower field with a crumbly stone wall to see a schooner returning to harbor.
ReplyDeleteHi, I love Doug's sketches and would love to see an old ranch windmill or an old well. Myrna
ReplyDeleteNautical sketches of all kinds. I see lighthouses and harbor scenes already suggested, and my favorites would include a ships wheel, compass, ship's compass (fluid filled glass kind), porthole, etc.
ReplyDeleteflowers and gardens
ReplyDeleteOMG-how do you add to the fabulous ideas I see already posted? I love gardens and flowers and fairies and nautical and windswept beaches and shells and and and.....
ReplyDeleteOooh, what fun! I'd love to see the Golden Gate Bridge, Yosemite Falls and a redwood tree. Perhaps an old English church with cobbled path, iron gate and rock wall; enlarged, detailed insects such as bee, dragonfly and ladybug. A single tree, such as a Japanese Maple during each of the four seasons in four separate drawings. French gargoyles. I could go on forever...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win, Jin!
Sally in California
I'd love to see an old covered bridge or perhaps an Amish buggy. I also loved the idea of an old country church mentioned above.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see what I think of as traditional country images, such as assorted chickens, roosters, cat, rabbit, cow, sheep, etc, such as you see on decorator plates or tiles. I would love them for my own home and to make as gifts.
ReplyDeleteBaby animals, old buildings, people...like close ups of faces of babies, children, or old people. OR personally I would love some sketches of LDS temples.
ReplyDeleteHi Jin - I would love to see Doug sketch a sailboat, or even a close-up of the rigging or prow. That would be fantastic. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteSarah
I would love to see wild life. Tigers, Lions, Bears
ReplyDeleteI think I love every single idea that was posted! :) I didn't see the Cherry Tree that was on Facebook (even though it's an awesome idea). I would like to add fish - like a drawing of a shark, dolphin (not a fish, I know) and assorted tropical fish. It's especially hard to get nice looking, *realistic* tropical fish. Hubby knows a *lot* about them... trust me. ;D
ReplyDeleteI would love to see vintage sewing machines, dressforms, old typewriters and so on. I love antiques.
ReplyDeleteKathy
I would love to see something like an old house with a front porch, maybe a water pump out front. Maybe a deer/buck scene in the forest. water pitcher/old coffee pitcher filled with wildflowers. cowboy boots, like the other boot sketch, with maybe a cowboy hat leaning against the boots. old quilts hanging on a clothes line. boy fishing on a river bank.
ReplyDeleteOoh - could you do a Chihuahua for me? My little guy is black with white chest and feet - and I adore him! Or how about an apple orchard with a little one picking an apple? Or a child smelling a flower? Just some thoughts. Thank you for considering these.
ReplyDeleteOh, another one would be a wine bottle and cheese/grapes. I really would love to have one for my kitchen!! I hope Doug does a lot as I can really see myself doing a lot of these!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see sketches of dogs, in particular a German Shepherd. Right now I don't have a dog but my last one that I had to put to sleep was a shepherd. I think they're beautiful dogs! I also love Corgis (had one that got hit by a car several years ago). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCindy:)
I would love some of everything already listed! My first thoughts were: wildflowers, dogs/cats, and nautical themed items. But as mentioned, I'd immediately snatch up sketches of anything already listed in this thread!!
ReplyDeleteRealistic animals. Wild ones as well as pets.
ReplyDeleteThese are all such great ideas! I'd love to see Bluebonnets, trees, old doors and arch ways, clawfoot tubs! Pretty much anything! These are wonderful!

Children at play, at a picnic, picking flowers.
This is so exciting!
With picnic season aproaching. i was thinking a picnic basket. maybe some fireworks- ones going off and ones before. an american flag bunting, but i think the fireworks would look really neat.
ReplyDeleteWedding Themed sketches would help me. I also need Baby themed sketches, as well as Fishing themed sketches.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage, anything vintage.
ReplyDeleteLove all these suggestions. The rustic ones are wonderful. More of that type would be welcome also.
How about a Bald Eagle to go with the boots.
ReplyDeleteI love vintage, hills, mountains and seaside scenes. I also think the blue Basil set would make really nice sketches.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments everyone. Looks like I'm going to be busy for a while! I just wanted to remind you that to the extent desired, you can also be a part of the art creation process. It really isn't hard to get out some pastels or watercolors (or markers even) and liven up these sketches. Here is a sample of the boots halfway colored to show you what I'm talking about: Boot Sample
ReplyDeleteTo say thanks for all of the ideas, I created a
ladybug sketch just for you guys. It will only be up for a couple of days.
To get the free SVG file, click here.
Thanks again, and keep the suggestions coming!
---Doug
PS - the more specific ideas you can throw in, the better. :)
I used a Marchy Uchida "Le Pen" marker and I could color in with Copics without smearing.
DeleteThanks for the freebie! Love your sketches!
Thank you Doug for the freebie. I look forward to having a play when my liquid pencils arrive.
DeleteThank you, Doug, for the Ladybug Sketch. It's right up my alley with my Gardening request. Warm Regards, Lorna
DeleteDoug - love the sketches. THey are fabulous! Those are the kind my eyes are always drawn to in stamps.
ReplyDeleteI second some of the other suggestions I was beat to. LOL Would love lighthouse/beach/nautical sketches.
Rustic New England scenes, English countryside. I love landscapes, particularly 'nostalgic' type ones. Scenes that may you think of a simpler time.
I think you could do a series for each season. That would be great, too. You could make the beach/nautical ones for summer, the English countryside for spring, autumn in New England, and winter forest scenes.
Doug, I love flowers.........but I particularly love wild flowers like black-eyed susan. I would love to see a set of them done by you!!!
ReplyDeleteIn would love to see a southwest theme with either a church or an adobe home ( a cute Casa) with cactus or beautiful SW theme flowers
ReplyDeleteI second the "country" church and the cactus ideas. Even daisies or pansies would be great for those flower lovers.
ReplyDeleteFor mother's Day, a mother and child (or baby) picture, and also father/child ones if looking for several in a set.
ReplyDeleteI like that I can color these in with a Copic after sketching (use Le Pen by Marvy Uchida for the sketching pen, it does not run with Copics).
Absolutely gorgeous sketches! They are perfect for Copics. I love nature themed sketches that contain some sort of wood (like the wheelbarrow) or stone — a stone wishing well would be great with some leafy shrubs and flowers and such and would lend its way to using on many different cards.
ReplyDeleteWould like sewing related items - sewing machines, dressforms, etc
ReplyDeleteI would love landscapes so they could be framed and hung on the wall.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some realistic cats and dogs. Not the cartoony/whimsical ones, but more like pet portraits. I really would love to see a Himalayan cat.
ReplyDeleteI also would like to see floral scenes as many above have mentioned.
Susan 2293 from MTC Forum
I would love a drawing of an old truck. My dad restores old pick-ups from the 60's. I think he would love a card with an old truck on it, maybe with an old barn behind it, or grass, or a picnic.
ReplyDeleteIt would be wonderful to have a hen and chicks to go with the gorgeous rooster that is already available.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see an old shipwreck/fishing boat/beach kind of sketch! I think that would be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAn alphabet or 2 or 10, that would work for me !
ReplyDeleteAnother cute idea would be a purse, hat, gloves combo....something vintage.
ReplyDeleteFlowers, just by themselves, like a trio of peonies or dahlias.
Flowers in different kinds of containers.
I love the old truck idea, maybe vintage cars.
Golf clubs or baseball mitt and bat for the men in our lives.
I would also love a series of dogs...especially Yorkshire Terriers. Pleeeeeeeease!! :) Thank you very much!!
ReplyDeleteSince I live in Alaska I suggest some wilderness themes: towering mountains with glaciers, wild river in the forest, placid lake with moose, grizzly bear catching salmon, fishing boat (seiner) catching fish, a cabin in the snowy winter, etc.!
ReplyDeleteOr an American flag behind a elderly veteran!

I would like to see: (all old fashioned style) bicycle, tricycle, a sailing boat, hubby would like a nordhavn boat, boy and girl walking down a tree lined dirt road, boy and girl kissing on a bench, cool old victorian houses, beach, boy and or girl fishing,......guess I better stop now. lol

Something patriotic: flag, fireworks, picnic, memorials (e.g., Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington, Iwo Jima), Mt. Rushmore

ReplyDeleteDeb
My daughter is 4 and my son is 3. It was a long winter for them and they were just itching for Summer. A few weeks ago we had some nice weather (85) and the kids were so happy to play outside. They ran around the yard, playing with our black lab and swinging on the swing set. Our yard borders the dairy farm and the cows were all out in the pasture. It was a beautiful day, the kids laughing and playing together and everyone spending the day outside. I would like to see something that represents the magic of summer. When the grass is green, the sky is blue, the sun is warm and as a kid enjoying the magic of summer.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the lady bug! I'm looking forward to playing with my colors this afternoon! I certainly agree with all of the suggestions made so far. I would love to have "realistic" sketches of wildlife - bears, deer, birds, etc.; cabins and scenery such as those found in Cades Cove, Great Smoky Mountains NP; beach themed; and some hats and such that I could use for my Red Hat scrapbooks & cards!
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us make suggestions!!!
Doug, I love the sketches. Thank you for the sweet ladybug. Here is another suggestion..or two. lol Rodeo, cowboys around the chutes, on horses, bullriding, roping, bulldogging, etc. Also, how about a ghost town series...old buildings with faded signs, tumble weeds by the old water trough, saloon with the doors askew, etc. And finally, a series of the Savior...blessing the sick, holding a child, in the temple, at the seashore, or any of the main events in HIS life. I think these would be awesome. Thanks for a chance to win. Your sketches are lovely.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of great ideas here Doug. I'd like to add to my list a blue heron standing on a log floating against the dock in front of a floating home (nice one) on a river, with the focal point being the heron. This was my morning greeting everyday for years when I lived on the Columbia River in Portland Oregon. The perfect picture would be as if I was sitting on the porch of my floating home, looking out over the low planter boxes (filled with petunias) at the dock, log, and heron, with the grassy shoreline in the distance.
ReplyDeleteI live on an Arabian horse ranch and would love, love, love horses, eagles, hawks, wildflowers, barns! That would be really awesome!
ReplyDeleteI think some antique sewing and cooking images would be really cool. Example old singer sewing machine, that type of stuff.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read the rest of the coments, but something for Christmas might be nice. I can see many cards being made with those.
ReplyDeleteAnother idea for those in the states, patriotic items; flags, stars, etc.
I would love to see sketches of a church, a barn, and all sorts of buildings. It would also be fun to see sketches of birds on their nests or nests with eggs.
ReplyDeleteOh boy.......all of the fabulous options available!! So many sketch ideas... so little time! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteI think my fav ideas would be a series of lighthouses, covered bridges, old barns and silos, and a lovely huge old oak tree.
I also like the idea of birds. Maybe some state themed sketches.... after all there are only 50! LOL!! State bird and flower sets would be awesome.
Or, how about just some birds..... hawk, eagle, heron, pelican, mallard.....
Thank you for this opportunity........ you are extremely talented and produce gorgeous work!!
