My Fairytale Friends

2 a.m.

The house is silent except for a painful, grinding sound that is coming out of my craft room.

A sound someone on the MTC forum had described as the noise a moose-in-heat makes, and it was coming out of my Silhouette SD cutter. It is dark outside and I should be in bed like everyone else and yet here I am cutting paper. My mind drifted to the events of the day...

We had driven to the mountains for a weekend trip to a Bavarian village only to cut short our stay after one night. I had opened the door to go outside in the morning and instead of fresh mountain air, my face was hit by smoke. My heart sank when I found out that there was a wildfire in the woods nearby.

The Silhouette stops and I look at the perfect little circles on the mat. My lips curled into a smile.

Lettering Delights had released their insanely cute Finger Puppet sets on Friday and I was looking forward to cutting them out. Coming home early meant that I could cut these out now instead of next week.

"I need to go to bed soon", I muttered as I absentmindedly position another sheet of cardstock onto the mat and loaded that into the cutter. Hubby is not going to be happy if he finds out that I am still playing.

Screech....screech.....the blade plunged itself into the paper and starts slicing into it.

I look up and see 2:30 registered on the clock.

I need to get these cards finished. I see them in my head and I must get them into my hands. I already KNOW exactly how they will look like......

3 a.m.

Half the night is gone and soon there will be light. I am spent but they are finished.

I've done it.

I had cut and glued and I have my "Friends" in my hands. I ran upstairs and jumped into bed. Hubby stirred and I held my breath. He continued sleeping. I closed my eyes and fell asleep grinning...

  1. wahh... Jin! I have been controlling myself since the release..... now you're making me want to buy the set :((

  2. It is so good to know I am not the only one that stays up all night playing with paper and crayons and such. Thank you so much Jin for the inspiration you have given me since I found your blog about 2 weeks ago. I have had LD's stuff for 3 yrs. now and have never used any of it. Now I see that I can. Thanks for all you do.

  3. OMG I love these and also good to know I am not the only one up. Till 3:30am then up again at 6:30am. I laughed when I read this because I know those feelings exactly. LOL

  4. These are fantastic. I know the feeling about creeping into bed after a crafting session. I too smile when I successfully have not disturbed hubbie in the early hours of the morning.....not as late as 3 a.m. though!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful projects.

  5. Ha! I love the post! And the sentiments on those cards are great! Thanks for sharing, Jin!

  11. Oh Jin...this has be literally laughing out loud!!! Seriously - this is the funniest thing I've seen in awhile. And I constantly scrap til 3am. :) Also wanted to thank you again for the awesome impress giveaway. I got my inks last week and they send across all 36 colors!! So amazingly generous! Love everything you make!

  12. Jin, these are totally adorable!!

  13. So cute, and with MTC you got rid of the holes and used them not as finger puppets but as regular SVGs that you made cards of. clever as usual.

  14. Jin, what did you use to highlight/color? Is it a color spritz or something?

  15. Love the little notes at the bottom of the cards! <3

  16. Too cute! I can totally relate to the late night crafting, or is it early morning? My husband just thinks I'm avoiding him!

  17. Had to check this out before going to bed...Clever sentiments! Thanks for the bedtime smile.
