Washi Tape from Daiso

I have been on a self-imposed washi tape ban for the last few months. After all the tape that I have been accumulating (see HERE, HERE and HERE), I have been really good at refraining from buying more. Sadly, a trip to the local Daiso store last weekend changed that.

What a beautiful sight at my Daiso store!

For those of you who are not familiar with Daiso, it is a chain of Japanese dollar store that charges $1.50 for most of their products. While I have seen fabric tape and paper tape in their store before, this was the first time that I had seen these washi tape. As the voice inside my head started screaming at me to walk away from that aisle, I find myself helplessly reaching for the tape.

I came home with a few rolls. Bad Jin!

While the prints on these Daiso tapes are very cute, the quality is nothing like the MT Masking Tape brand. In fact, I thought that the quality of the tapes (the ones with the colored background like the owls, banners, etc.), was very much like the Recollection brand from the Michaels store.

The quality of the tape with the white background was a little better. I thought they felt somewhat like rice paper.

Here are some of the patterns that I really like and was happy to add to my collection:

There is this roll with the European Cities -theme...

...and this apple tape that is perfect for a teacher card...

...and this Japanese city-theme roll! I'm not sure how I'm going to use these tape yet (Do we really have to use what we buy?). In the meantime, I'm just going to sit back and admire how cute these Daiso washi tapes look. :-)

  2. Oh my goodness..... that photo of the display literally made me gasp... I think you did well not to buy one of EVERYTHING! I know what you mean about "use what we buy???" Sometimes something is just so adorable you have to own it, whether or not you have any idea what you'll use it for!

    1. I hope you find some in your store too, PaperBunnie! Washi tape seem to be everywhere these days so that I even found some in our Dollar Tree store. They are not as cute as the Daiso ones though.

    1. Oh, I'm sure that they do! I've been to the Richmond store several times and I love it so much. It's HUGE! They usually carry items that I can't find in the Daiso stores here too. I wouldn't be surprised if they have even more patterns of washi tape in your Daiso.

  5. I live in the middle of nowhere (out in the Olympic Mountains), and have never heard of this store, but would gladly search one out, just to have that roll of tape with the sheep on it....

  9. Oh my gosh Jin…
I can totally relate! I think manufacturers know that we
scrapbooking/card making folks just can't help ourselves.
We don't just want one item we want the whole set or every different
one we can find! The question do we have to use it???
Hmmm Its just to lovely. cute, colorful or nice to use….go figure:)
Thanks for sharing your treasures wish I had a store like that near me.
