the Grill box

Father's Day is this Sunday (June 16) and here's a great gift box for Dad:

LD released their King of the Grill last week and I was curious about the 6th file - the Grill Gift Box - in the Cut Its Projects set.

Hubby's grill is stainless steel so I wanted to make a gift box that looks similar. Luckily I have some silver foil cardstock in my stash that would be perfect for the box.

The assembly of the box is pretty straightforward and I was surprised that it was easier to put together than I had imagined. The finished box measures only about 3.375" wide x 3.5" tall x 2.25" deep, not including the wingspan of the two grill plates on the sides. Each grill plate is about 1.25" wide. To give a better perspective of the size, I have two pictures that compare the box to a regular navel orange and a CapriSun juice pack.

I had bought my silver foil cardstock from a local paper store that is no longer in business (I miss you, Paper Zone!) but I understand (thanks to Patty's post on Facebook) that Walmart carries foil paper in different colors. I also did a search on Amazon and found several different brands of foil paper HERE. You will need the cardstock in 12"x12" in order to make the box in the original (LD) size.

Even though the box is pretty small, it can store almost a full 11oz bag of Hershey's Kisses.  By the way, the file for this grill box also includes 4 wheels but I left those out because I thought it would be more sturdy without.

LD is having a Dollar Sale and for a limited time, the King of the Grill Cut It Projects is available for only $2 (reg. $5). The set comes with 9 cutting files but frankly, I think that the file for this grill box alone is already worth the $2. If you do not already own this set, click HERE to get yours now.
