Patricia's Birdcage

I love the work of Patricia Zapata and I'm excited every time she releases a new design. I've had a lot of fun putting together her boxes, and  transforming them into lanterns and notecards. I've also enjoyed putting together her Halloween SVGs. Recently, Lettering Delights added several new Patricia Zapata cut files to their store including a set of 3 birdcages.

The hardest part of working with this set was choosing which birdcage to cut first. All three look so good but I ended up cutting the round birdcage.

I cut out all the parts with Make-the-Cut and my Silhouette Cameo but as soon as I was done, I looked at all the pieces and I was stumped. Thankfully, simple instructions are included in the PDF file that came with the Cut It set so that I didn't have to figure out how to put together the cage after all.

I was really excited when I finished the cage so much so that I didn't even wait for the glue to dry before showing it off to the family. Their first remark was, "Nice but where's the bird?". So back into the den I went.

In order to perch a bird inside the cage, I had to make a swing for it first. I didn't have a twig and it was late and I didn't want to go outside to find one. So I broke a chopstick and colored it with my ink pads. I suppose that worked because Hubby didn't know that it wasn't a real twig until I told him later. *snicker*

Of course once I added the bird, I couldn't stop. I ended up decorating the cage with flowers and butterflies which I cut out with colored vellum. I even made a second larger round cage!

Besides the birdcages, the Moroccan Party, Patricia's Easter Eggs, and Patricia's Easter Basket Cut Its were also added to the LD store. I've already cut out the Easter Eggs (super easy!). I think I'll make a basket next.
