Many Thanks from Us to You!

Eskimo Pie is brand, spanking new on the LD site but I might as well call it brand, spanking cute. I'm supposed to be taking these few days before the New Year to declutter, but I really just wanted to play with the new set.

Before I proceed, let me first say THANK YOU to Hubby for bringing the kids to their scheduled dental appointment so I could play. Speaking of "thank you", it is the season to say Thank You to all from whom we have received Christmas presents and a Thank You card was exactly what I made today.

Using the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, I made a A2-size (4.25"x5.5") rectangle and an oval, and filled both shapes with papers from the new Eskimo Pie Collection. I used the LD Distorted Drusillus font for my sentiment. As the main image/svg contains many small parts (e.g. eyes. cheeks) that would be too hard to cut and layer on this A2-sized project, I decided to make this into a hybrid card. I combined print-and-cut with traditional paper-piecing (a.k.a. paper layering) so that the small layers were printed onto the larger ones and I would piece together those good size layers to complete the main image.

By combining both techniques, not only did I not sacrifice any details, I managed to add dimensions to an otherwise flat card. In addition, I also took a fraction of the time to make this hybrid card as opposed to a traditional paper-pieced one. A little bit of Stickles (glitter glue) provided extra interest and completed the card.

I hope that today's project will help you to simplify your card-making process (and speed things up), especially where there are intricate or multiple layers involved.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Green Tea Kit Kat!

I was going to show y'all this with my Washi Tape post yesterday but as you probably already know, that post went waaaay too long. So I'm posting this separately. :-)

When Hubby was waiting for his flight home at the Narita International Airport, he saw this and had to get them for me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Matcha and I like Kit Kats so Green Tea Kit Kats are a match made in heaven!

This is what he brought home:

Let's open the box up!

Beautiful!

Let's take one of the 10 packs and open that up.

Eeek! So cute! 3 mini packs in a medium pack in a big box. heheh.

Even cuter! These are snack size!

Here Cutie Pie, meet Not-So-Cutie Pie.

Hmmm....is this the reason why there is a lower obesity rate in Japan?

By the way, these look really cute but they don't taste as green tea-ish as I expected. They taste a lot like milk chocolate with a green tea aftertaste. It left me wanting something more green tea-ish. Does anyone have a good green tea pastry/baked good thingy recipe to share? I think I'm going go bake some matcha cupcakes or something.

Later, gators! ;-)

A Slice of WASHI Heaven (picture heavy)

Earlier this month, Hubby took a business trip to Tokyo, Japan. Naturally, one of the first things that I asked of him (besides begging him to bring me along, which he refused :-(  ) was to bring some washi tape back for me. When he had a chance to take a break from his daily meetings, he took a trip to Tokyu Hands in Shinjuku. If you follow me on my Facebook page, you may have already seen the following picture. He took this with his phone camera while he was inside the store:

Oh, how I wished I was there! It was a Washi Tape Heaven! Here are some additional pictures that he sent:

I so wanted to be in that store! Since I couldn't be there in person, Hubby brought me a slice of the Washi heaven:

Oh, they look so pretty! Many are by the MT brand that we are familiar with but there are several that are not. Still they are really cute!

These Clouds crack me up and that Sushi tape is too much fun. It would go perfectly with the Lettering Delights Bento Box set!

The slim tape intrigued me. They weren't kidding when they said that these are slim. Each roll measures 6mm x 10m Only 6mm wide!

This set of transportation-themed tape is one of my favorites and I can't help but adore that roll of mountain scene.

Hubby also brought back this super wide roll of tape/wrap (120mm x 5m). I'm not sure what I would do with it yet but it sure looks very cool.

I was super impressed when he took out these washi tape dispensers. They are magnetic!

So that's my slice of washi heaven. Once I am done fondling, I will have to sit down and actually use some of them. Can't wait to play! :-)

2 Quick (printable) Be Jolly cards

For anyone who still need a last minute Christmas card, here are two quick ideas for you. Use today's free Be Jolly Graphics Set to make these printed cards. I used Silhouette Studio to size and arrange all the elements. I added in two rectangles to frame the main image(s) and printed the cards out with my printer. The cards were cut with my paper trimmer.

As I did not use my Silhouette Cameo to cut out these cards, you can make them too even if you do not have a Silhouette cutter. Just click HERE to download and install the Silhouette Studio program, and HERE to get your free graphics.

If you are new to Silhouette Studio, click HERE for another tutorial that you can use without your Silhouette cutter. The tutorial is great for you to practice the program with while you are waiting for your Silhouette cutter to arrive.

Click HERE to get your free Be Jolly Graphics Set before the offer expires on Sunday night at midnight MST.
