Minimalist Flowers

When Lettering Delights released Patricia Zapata's Halloween Kit last week, they also added some of her flowers cutting files to their site.

I played with the Petals Collection today. Perhaps it is due to the fact that Halloween is around the corner that the colors orange, black ,and white, are very much on my mind. As I prepare to load the cutting mat into my Silhouette, I find myself reaching out for the Halloween colored cardstock.

My Silhouette SD easily cut out the petals. Once assembled, the flowers looked stunning. I curled the petals and thought that they would be perfect for a gift box topper.

Using Make-the-Cut, I imported the gift box from Patricia's Halloween Kit. I used the basic BREAK and DELETE commands to remove the main design (spider web), leaving just a plain box template. I cut and assemble the box. The project was quickly finished when I affixed the flower over some twine on the box. The gift box looks amazing! Gotta love it when a simple flower was all it took to turn a plain box into a stunner.

I really like the loopy flower image in the Petals Collection. I cut out a couple of them and hot glued to some wire stems.

I adore these flowers! They look so funky. So modern. So very 3D. I stuck them into a vase and can't get over how cool they look. I want to stare at them all day long! How is it possible for something that is made up from some simple shapes to look so good? I love the idea of minimalist living but I love minimalist objects even more. They always look so cool!

Seriously, I'm really going to stop writing here. I can't take my eyes off my minimalist-style flowers. Just can't stop looking.....

  5. Wow. The flowers came out great. The file pictures on LD don't do them justice. That's why I like that they post user's projects related to each file so you can see how it actually looks.

  6. Jin,
A bit off-topic, but I don't think you've covered it in a post before. What do you use for your clean white backdrop when you shoot your designs and cards?? Does it stay up permanently in your craft room or do you fold it up and haul it out with each new project? Enquiring minds want to know!
    Thanks,

  7. It's just a big sheet of paper, Erikag. It stays up until it gets ripped and then it gets replaced. :-)
